Kings Langley Woolworths handed over a $3000 cheque as part of the Fresh Food Kids community grants to these hockey tyros.

KINGS Langley Hockey Club received a welcome funding boost towards the end of their first year.
Last Friday week, Kings Langley Woolworths handed over a $3000 cheque as part of the Fresh Food Kids community grants.
Club founder Lyn O’Reilly said ``we’ll make good use of it’’.
``It means next year we should have an extra one or two teams and we’ll be able to get goalkeeper sets and uniforms,’’ she said.
The money will also go towards first aid kids and beginners equipment ``to help more people try the sport’’.Store manager Colin Rodda said the grant enabled Woolworths to give back to the community.
Over the past two years the fresh food giant has given $3 million to more than 1900 community groups.
It comes as the under-13s team, which finished second in the Sydney Junior Hockey Associations North Area division 2 competition, has made the grand final in the club’s first year of competition.
The mixed team won their major semi final against competition leaders Gordon North Sydney Blue 2-nil at Pennant Hills on Saturday morning.
Kings Langley will play the Gordon North Shore side (either white or blue) which wins the semi final, at Ryde next Friday night.
Mrs O’Reilly, whose children all play hockey, established the club last year to give locals the opportunity to play the sport.
The club doesn’t have a homeground in Blacktown.
